I went to the movies yesterday

Since I finally let my son off punishment. He was on for two weeks, no TV and no friends outside of school for leaving the house and going over a friends house without informing anyone.

So he got off of the punishment and I invited his friend from around the corner and another to go see Harry Potter. We went to a restaurant with my sister. Taking an 8 year old, a 10 year old and a 12 year old to a restaurant before a movie with a digital camera, was a - really annoying experience.

I am surprised I still have any hair.

I didn't really think that kids still said "I know you are but what am I?" and what is " boys go to college to gain knowledge and girls go to Jupiter to get stupider?"
I mean doesn't that mean that girls are inherently smarter then boys?

let's not get into this argument.

We went to the movie on the IMAX theatre. Which was actually cool. The IMAX experience I mean.
The movie was ok - not great but entertaining.

I need more time to recover from spending time with these kids.....
really....

Doctor's Appointment

But not for me this time. This one is for my son.

I had mentioned before, last month I believe, that my son had screened positive in an ADA screening. I am still unsure what that means. And trying to read on the internet is getting me a bit confused.

I know it has something to do with Rheumatology. Which brings me back to the doctor's appointment. I am seeing a specialist from Connecticut Children's Hospital.
My son, I just found out,is very scared. He thinks they will give bad news, and I don't know what to tell him.
I don't know what they'll say. Best case is, nothing is wrong and you can go....But who knows.

I want to be able to reassure him there is nothing to worry about, but I am not certain there is nothing to worry about.

So we shall see how it goes, and hope for the best.

More Questions about FEMA

I was surfing through blogs and found this article concering FEMA not using rent free units that were provided and at the same time stopping payments on hotels that they placed 53,000 families on Dec 1. FEMA not using rent free units

Maybe I have it wrong, but not placing families in rent free units?? why?

Look what I made!

I'm" due Thursday, December 29, 2005 - Visit My Babies Online Pregnancy Journal

Ok ok. it's a little cheesy, but hey, I figured it would be something to do....

Classes

So I have started my online classes. Still trying to get used to everything. I already know the concept of using message boards, but I have to learn to read more of the messages before signing off.

Alot of discussion goes on in there. My live classes are on Saturday. So at 11 am and 2 pm for an hour, I will see how the live class works.

Trying to be positive and want to participate as much as possible.

Just very tired lately and so many appointments sneaking up on me.

That said, have to leave now for my son's school.

sigh

Running Commentary

That's what I seem to be doing lately....Running. Or more accurately - wobbling around.

It was an appointment day again today, but this time I had to log into my classes first.
So I'm up at 6:30 am just in time to help get my son in the shower for school and get socks out of the dryer.
At 7 am I am on the comp trying to make sure it is known I logged in so that they won't kick me out of class.
At 8 am I am out the door waiting for a bus to take me to my 9 am doctor's appointment.
At 8:15 I am still waiting on a bus that should have come at 8:03.
At 8:30 the bus pulls into the transportation center and my connecting bus pulls off...grr

At 8:33 I manage to get my connecting bus, thanks to alot of foot traffic and traffic lights.
At 8:45 show up at my doctor's office, to find the door locked.

Fun so far huh?

Well anyhoo, you see how it went...After doctor and sending paperwork up to second doctor for my blood sugar, and making an appointment for 2 weeks. I am done with the doctors.

I have to go to my son's school to talk to the After school program teacher and to speak to the guidance counselor.
And pick up Fundraiser stuff.

after all this....

I take a cab, because I was running late, and head off to work.

8 hours later....My eyes are drooping and kind of blurring. And I STILL have to get home tonight.

Sheesh

Names revisited

Ok here I was, researching what I wanted to name my son.

I had pretty much settled on a name when something came up that I completely forgot about.

My son's father....heheh OOOPS!

Turns out that Daddy doesn't like the name Zachary. Hmmmmmm
Actually, what he said was....It''s sounds like he should be on one of those bloody kid shows.
He hates kid shows...Yeah.

sooo....

We have agreed on the Middle name...It will be Warren :) This makes me very happy as it is my grandfather's name.

Now I am looking at Arabic first names, as Daddy is from Pakistan and likes Arabic names...

So Far......This is the short list: (in no particular order - )

Name - Meaning

Tariq - Conqueror
Omar - Highest
Jamal - Handsome
Rashad - Good Judgment
Ahmad - To praise

I do have a favorite.... But I want to see what some others think.

Day after Election Day

And the results are in!

ummmm my mayor won re election. Which is good, what is better is this time, he didn't run unopposed.

There were alot of races across the country that seemed significant for news coverage. the New Jersey Governor's race. Where it seemed to be ok to put an attack using an ex-wife and then have the nerve to have YOUR wife say...We didn't resort to any negative ads....hmmmm...

Virgina's race where a democrat replaced another Democrat.

In Texas, where they just made gay marriage against it's state constitution. In California, where the governor's measures all failed.

Yep

it was a busy election day alright.

Kudos to those who voted :)

What's in a name?

I had decided what the baby's name is going to be, and then started thinking...What if the name doesn't truly suit his personality?

Name:

Zachary
Male
Hebrew
remembered by god

This is what I wanted for a first name. Am I Jewish? No, but just because it is Hebrew in origin doesn't mean it's a bad name...

Warren
Male
German
defender

This is what I wanted for a middle name.

So Zachary Warren - essentially means a defender who is remembered by god.

That's not so bad....Right?

I wake up to my TV being on - as normal

This is because my son is always up before me and has it on if he can't sleep.

What wonderful thing is on the TV for me to wake up to today? A cartoon? No....
a children's show of some sort? No....That would be too easy.

No I wake up to Scream. (not me scream - the movie Scream)

Joy!!

6:15 am - and I wake up to a bit of bloody humor.

So being the responsible parent I am....I turn on the news.

and promptly fell back to sleep.

At about 7 am I woke up for my morning show. One of the news stories I saw was about a Judge in Maryland who either mistakenly or not rescinded an order of protection that a woman wanted extended and 3 weeks later that woman was set on fire at her office by her husband and is in critical condition.

The news report went on to say that the judge expressed his sympathy, though the family is looking for some sort of disciplinary action.

I noticed the family also pointed out that the judge seemed very dismissive and uncaring about the woman's concerns. Though I cannot say through the few snippits of audio that was presented.

I am not sure how to react to this. On the surface, you could say that an uncaring judge was responsible for a woman having no protection against an abusive husband that she wanted/needed to be away from.

would you find something different if you dug deeper?
